Shift Name
If you have only one shift in the organization, it is recommended to put the shift name as General. But if you have more than one shift, you can set it as Morning Shift/First Shift, Evening Shift/Second Shift and Night Shift/Third Shift.
From - To
Set the working hours for the shift you created.
Shift Margin
If you enable the shift margin, this means that it allows you to define which payable hours will be calculated. You can set additional time before or after a shift to be considered as payable.
Example 1:
The above example shows that the shift is set from 09:00 am to 06:00 pm. When your employee check-in early within 08:00 am to 09:00 am and check-out late within 06:00 pm to 07:00 pm, this time limit is considered as payable hours. Any employee check-in and check-out not within the time limit, their working hours will not be considered as payable but still recorded in the system.
Situation
An employee check-in at 11:00 am and check out at 09:00 pm. The attendance entries after 07:00 pm will be recorded but only from 11:00 am to 07:00 pm will be considered as payable hours. An employee will only be paid for 8 hours as a normal working hour even though has worked for 10 hours (from 10:00 am to 09:00 pm). In this situation, an employee's attendance will be marked as half-day absent in the system due to a short period of working hours within the time limit that has been set in the settings.
Example 2:
The above example shows that the shift begins at 09:00 am and ends at 06:00 pm. An employee who has check-in one hour before the shift starts will be considered as payable hours but if attendance entries are marked before 08:00 am and after 06:00 pm, it will not be considered as payable hours.
Situation
An employee check-in at 06:00 am and check out at 03:00 pm. The entries will be recorded before 08:00 am but be reminded only from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm will be considered as payable hours. This employee has worked for 12 hours (from 06:00 am to 03:00 pm), but the payable hours should be calculated as 7 hours. Therefore, the attendance will be marked as half-day absent due to a short period of working hours within the time limit of the payable hours.
Weekend
You can choose to set the weekend as Location-Based or Shift Based. If you want to set based on locations, then you should choose Location-Based. Otherwise, you can define weekends by click Shift Based and tick the weekend for the created shift.
Location-Based settings will be based on the settings configured in the Holiday calendar while for Shift Based, it will override the holiday in the location-based if they already exist.
Shift Allowance
If you enable this part, you are required to enter the Rate per day for the shift allowance. Then it will be applicable when an employee covers the eligible working hours set under Attendance > General Settings > Eligibility for Shift Allowance. Next, you will need to choose who is applicable for this shift allowance either to set it for specific departments or locations.
