Shift Management with Zoho People: How to Add Shift(s)
What is Shift in Zoho People?
In Zoho People, shifts refer to predefined time periods during which employees are scheduled to work. Shifts are a fundamental aspect of workforce management, allowing organizations to efficiently plan and track employee schedules.
How to Add Shift(s) in Zoho People?
1. Navigate to Shift Schedule: Start from your home page and go to Attendance > Shift Schedule > Shift(s) > Add Shift.
2. Set Shift Name: Specify the name of the shift (i.e. Morning, Evening, Full)
3. Set Start and End Time: Specify the start and end time for the shift under 'From' and 'To,' ensuring accurate scheduling.
4. Enable Shift Margin (if required): Optionally enable Shift Margin to set boundaries for shifts. Work done within these boundaries will be counted as payable hours.
5. Define Weekends:
- If location-based, select 'Location based' to align with Calendar Settings.
- If shift-based, click 'Shift based' to mark specific weekends for the shift.
- Enable the Half Working Day & Half Weekend feature for added flexibility.
5. Shift Allowance (if required): Under 'Shift Allowance,' enable it if needed and enter the Rate per day for the shift. This allowance applies when an employee covers eligible working hours set in Attendance > General Settings.
6. Select Applicability: Choose the applicability of the shift among departments, locations, or divisions based on your organizational structure.
Additional Considerations
- Be mindful of the note regarding Location-based Weekend & Holidays, as it follows the settings configured under Settings > Organization > Holiday Calendar.
- When creating shifts and shift-based weekends/holidays, they override location-based definitions if they already exist, providing a seamless hierarchy.
