Enhanced Currency Features in Zoho CRM: Multi-Currency Support, Profile-Based Permissions, and More!

We're here to announce the enhanced currency feature in Zoho CRM, which allows you to manage currencies in your CRM, giving you greater flexibility and control over your transactions. This feature is especially useful for global businesses or those with customers in different parts of the world because it simplifies the transaction process and ensures that your financial records are accurate and consistent. With the enhanced user interface, choosing the home currency in real time is super easy.

Below are some of the major enhancements Zoho made to the currency feature in Zoho CRM:
  • Multi-currency for trial editions
  • Profile-based permissions for managing currencies
  • Currency details and logs
  • Filter currencies based on currency status
  • Deactivated currency restrictions
Let's look at the enhancements:

Multi-currency for trial editions

Previously, trial edition users couldn't explore how the feature operates. Now, they have the opportunity to do so.

Multiple currencies are now available for the trial edition of Zoho CRM, with support for up to five currencies. Users switching from a paid edition to a trial edition can use currencies based on their paid edition limit.

Profile-based permissions for managing currencies

Before, only administrators could handle currencies, but with this update, users with manage currencies permission can now access the currencies tab.

The permission setting required to access the Currencies tab has been added to admin-level permissions settings.

Currency details and logs

Previously, tracking changes made to currencies was not an option. Now, you can track changes for each currency. These changes are also recorded in the Audit Logs.

When you click a currency—which is displayed as a hyperlink—the details of the currency will displayed with two tabs: Info and Logs. This helps you know everything about that currency—what it looks like now and how it has changed over time. This is important for keeping your finances in order, being transparent, and having a neat record of all currency-related information in your system.

  • Info: Displays the currency's details.
  • Logs: Captures any change made to the currency, such as, currency format, exchange rate, status, and so on.

New symbols for currencies

Along with the existing symbols that Zoho CRM supports, Zoho has now introduced few more to broaden the range of currency options available for enhanced financial management.

Previously, setting symbols for currencies, especially when the symbols were shared with other currencies, wasn't an option. For instance, the "$" symbol was exclusive to the US Dollar, while other currencies like the Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Bermudian Dollar, etc., also use the same symbol. Now, you have the flexibility to set the "$" symbol for Australian Dollar and designate USD for the US Dollar.

Please note that you cannot use the same symbol for multiple currencies. For example, if you've already set the $ symbol for USD and want to set the same symbol for AUD, the system will return an error.

Unified digit separator options

In this update, we've made some tweaks to the number format when editing or adding a new currency. Here's what's new:
  • The thousand and decimal separator options are combined as one Digit Separators picklist.
  • The Indian separator format 12,34,567.89 has been added to all currencies.

Filter currencies based on currency status

You can now filter currencies based on their status, whether they are active or inactive. Filtering currencies based on their status provides a convenient way to organize and view specific sets of currencies.

Deactivated currency restrictions

When a user deactivates a currency, the system will display a confirmation message noting the consequences of deactivating a currency, as shown in the image below.

What's next?
  • Automatic exchange rate update for currencies
  • Dynamic exchange rate update in records
