[Zoho Accounts] Enhanced Sign-In and Organizational Invites
Zoho now allows you to belong to organizations in different data centers without needing to create separate accounts. This is achieved through a system of primary and secondary accounts.
Understanding Primary and Secondary Zoho Accounts
- Primary Account: This is the original Zoho account you created, and its data center is based on your initial signup location (no longer selectable) or your IP address. You can only have one primary account.
- Secondary Account: These are additional accounts linked to your primary account and exist in different data centers based on invitations you accept from organizations. You can have multiple secondary accounts.
Benefits of Primary and Secondary Accounts
- Join Organizations in Different Data Centers: Access services and collaborate with others in different regions while maintaining a single login.
- Centralized User Profile: Your primary account stores your core user information (email, phone number) which gets synced to your secondary accounts.
Important Points to Remember
- Sign-in Limitations: You can only be signed in to one Zoho account (primary or secondary) per data center at a time.
- Authentication: Login credentials are always managed through your primary account, regardless of which secondary account you're accessing.
- Data Location: App-specific data (like emails or documents) resides in the data center where it's created and won't be synced between accounts.
Switching Between Accounts
- Use Data Center Specific URLs: Access the desired service using the specific URL for the target data center (provided in a list at the article's end).
- Sign-in with Primary Account Credentials: Enter your primary account username and password.
- If you're accessing a data center with a secondary account, you'll be redirected to your primary data center's sign-in page first. There, you'll see your primary account pre-filled and can choose to sign in to your secondary account or another account entirely.
Signing Out
Remember, signing out of your primary account will sign you out of all secondary accounts as well.
FAQs
- Maximum Signed-in Accounts: Only one account per data center can be signed in at a time. However, you can have multiple secondary accounts linked to your primary account.
- Changing Primary Data Center: Unfortunately, you cannot change the data center of your primary account.
- Secondary Account Login: You use your primary account credentials to sign in to all your secondary accounts.
